I’m a Psychic Medium — and These 8 Things Instantly Piss Me Off

People assume psychic mediums spend their days floating around in incense smoke, predicting the future, and hugging strangers barefoot in a crystal shop. The reality? Some of us believe in intuition and science, emotional intelligence and boundaries, luxury and spirituality — and we’re deeply tired of the nonsense people project onto us.

Psychic medium Leslie Juvin-Acker, J.D. shares a brutally honest and intelligent perspective on modern spirituality, emotional intelligence, boundaries, intuition, and critical thinking.

In this sharp and humorous article, she challenges conspiracy thinking, spiritual manipulation, emotional immaturity, and the myth that spirituality means weakness or “woo-woo” living.

This piece offers readers a grounded, empowering, and thought-provoking look into the realities of being spiritually intuitive in today’s world.

There’s this bizarre fantasy people have about psychic mediums. They think we float through life wrapped in incense smoke, whispering affirmations while decoding angel numbers and predicting lottery tickets.

No.

Some of us are deeply spiritual and deeply practical. Some of us believe in intuition and science. Some of us can talk about energetic patterns one minute and tell you to stop acting ridiculous the next.

So here it is: the brutally honest list of things that absolutely piss me off as a psychic medium.

1. Blindly Believing Every Conspiracy Theory

Being spiritual does not mean abandoning critical thinking.

I’m all for curiosity. Explore ideas. Ask questions. Challenge systems. But the second spirituality becomes an excuse to reject science, medicine, technology, or logic altogether? That’s where I’m out.

Earth is basically one giant laboratory. We’re here to test ideas, learn, observe patterns, and seek truth through both spiritual and physical laws.

Blind belief isn’t enlightenment. It’s intellectual laziness wearing crystals.

If your entire personality is “anti-everything,” you’re not awakened. You’re just gullible in a different direction.

2. Being Emotionally Closed Off

Years ago, I sat at a table with a group pulling affirmation cards. One adult suddenly started making a dramatic, mocking spectacle out of the activity — in front of everyone, including children.

The kids looked confused and asked what was wrong with the adult.

I explained, honestly, that some people never develop enough emotional intelligence to comfortably discuss feelings, vulnerability, or introspection.

That’s the truth.

People who mock emotions usually fear them.

Being closed off to feelings, new perspectives, or deeper conversations shrinks your world. Spirituality isn’t about pretending to be enlightened. It’s about developing the courage to actually feel things.

3. Expecting Me to Think for You

Do not send me random links asking:

  • “Is this true?”

  • “What do you think?”

  • “Can you explain this to me?”

I’m not doing your homework.

I’m not watching a three-hour conspiracy documentary because you refuse to focus long enough to research something yourself.

Some people treat intelligent or intuitive people like the “smart kid” in high school they can copy answers from. But even if someone hands you the conclusion, you’ll never understand how they got there unless you do the work yourself.

Think critically. Analyze. Read. Compare sources. Build your own mind.

Spiritual growth without intellectual growth is useless.

4. Asking Me to Predict the Future

People constantly ask me:

  • “What’s going to happen to the country?”

  • “What’s going to happen in the world?”

  • “What’s going to happen to me?”

Honestly? I don’t care enough to pretend certainty.

The future isn’t fixed. Human behavior changes outcomes constantly. Every decision creates new variables.

Trying to predict the future with total certainty is like asking someone what exact meal you’ll cook next Thursday.

There are patterns. There are probabilities. There are intuitive impressions.

But anyone pretending they possess absolute certainty about every future event is selling fantasy.

5. Assuming I’m Ultra “Woo-Woo”

I hate hippie hug circles.

I don’t want patchouli oil on my clothes.

I hate camping.

I like luxury hotels, giant beds, beautiful homes, good design, and personal space.

And for the record: being spiritual does not mean I owe everyone physical affection. If I don’t know you, please don’t hug me.

People act like spirituality and comfort can’t coexist, as though enlightenment requires living barefoot in a yurt while surviving exclusively on moon water.

No thanks.

6. Treating Spirituality Like a Cosmic Vending Machine

One of the most dangerous modern spiritual ideas is the belief that spirituality exists purely to “manifest” whatever you want.

Money. Cars. Revenge. Fame. Validation.

That’s not spirituality. That’s ego with incense.

Mystic Joel Goldsmith once said:

“You don’t use God. God uses you.”

That line is deeply true.

Real spiritual growth humbles you. It forces you through darkness, pain, loss, accountability, and transformation. It strips illusions away.

If you think spirituality is just “law of attraction” fluff designed to deliver your dream life without discomfort, you’re going to be very disappointed.

Growth costs something.

7. Befriending Me for Free Readings

Please don’t.

I know when people are trying to use me.

If I feel spiritually compelled to pass along a message to someone, I will. Freely.

Authentically.

But manipulative energy is obvious.

Some people approach psychic mediums the way others approach wealthy relatives — hoping proximity equals access.

No.

And yes, when I feel someone trying to energetically manipulate or drain me, I intentionally sever the energetic connection.

Boundaries are spiritual too.

8. Assuming Kindness Means Weakness

People mistake kindness for softness all the time.

I know light work.

I also understand darkness — because I’ve had to help undo it. I understand manipulation, harmful intent, energetic abuse, and psychological warfare far better than most people realize.

I choose compassion consciously.

I choose love consciously.

But thinking spiritual people are automatically weak, passive, or incapable of protecting themselves is a massive mistake.

Some of the strongest people you will ever meet are the ones who intentionally chose peace after fully understanding chaos.

Five Positive Affirmations

  • I trust both intuition and intelligence.

  • My boundaries protect my peace.

  • I grow wiser through every challenge.

  • I honor truth over blind belief.

  • I choose strength, clarity, and love.

What do you think is the biggest misconception about spirituality today?

  • Spiritual people reject science

  • Manifestation solves everything

  • Kindness equals weakness

  • Intuition replaces critical thinking
