Article Summary: This powerful article by executiv
e career and life coach Leslie Juvin-Acker, J.D. explores the difference between people who genuinely transform their lives and those who stay stuck in cycles of excuses, avoidance, and emotional stagnation. From spiritual bypassing to refusing accountability, Leslie breaks down the habits that make someone “uncoachable” — and the mindset shifts required to create authentic success, healing, confidence, and leadership.
Everyone says they want a better life.A better career. Better relationships. More success. More peace.
But very few people are actually willing to become the kind of person capable of creating those things.
After years coaching executives, entrepreneurs, creatives, and spiritually curious clients,
I’ve learned one uncomfortable truth: transformation only happens when people stop waiting for magic and start participating in their own evolution.

Some people say they want coaching.
What they really want is validation, a psychic shortcut, or someone to tell them their life will magically improve without requiring them to change.
After years as an executive career coach, life coach, and intuitive advisor, I can tell you this: coaching only works when you do.
So, here are the signs you might be uncoachable — and what coachability actually looks like.
1. You Hear Advice, But You Don’t Use It
Uncoachable people collect advice like decorative pillows. They hear it, nod, agree, and then do absolutely nothing with it.
They wait for life to change. They wait for other people to change. They wait for things to “magically” get better.
They don’t.
As the Bible says, “Faith without works is dead.”
Coachable people apply what they learn. They take guidance, test it, practice it, and build new habits.

2. You’re Too Woo-Woo To Be Grounded
As a psychic medium with energy rebalancing abilities, many of which deepened after my near-death experience, I can say this with love: some “spiritual” people use their beliefs to gaslight themselves and others into staying stuck.
If your beliefs are not motivating you to improve your life and help others, they may be deceiving you.
Spirituality should make you more honest, more responsible, more compassionate, and more effective — not more dramatic.
Coachable people stay spiritually open and practically grounded.

3. You Want Success Without Building Character
Heraclitus said, “Character is destiny.”
Your life reflects your character. If you think executive coaching, intuitive coaching, or even psychic guidance will simply make you richer, more admired, and universally liked, you’ve got another thing coming.
Success is character-building.
Edgar Cayce called life’s challenges “stepping stones instead of stumbling blocks.”
Your world cannot get better unless you do.
Coachable people use every experience to mature, refine, and strengthen themselves.

4. You Want Prestige For Fame Or Money
A prestigious career is not the goal. It is often the result of making other people’s lives better.
If you want to be on the cover of a magazine, featured on a glossy website, or hyped up by others without giving anything meaningful in return, keep walking.
That is not leadership. That is vanity.
Coachable people understand that service creates status — not the other way around.

5. You Refuse To Take Responsibility For Your Healing
Yes, people can be cruel. They can be mean, vindictive, selfish, and deeply hurtful.
That pain is real.
But once the damage is done, your responsibility is to mitigate the damage within yourself. Not through revenge. Not through pouting. Not through blaming the past forever.
Through healing. Through boundaries. Through self-respect. Through walking away from the memories, people, and situations that keep reopening the wound.
Coachable people do not deny their pain. They decide what to do with it.

6. You’re Not Willing To Pay For Good Advice
The more successful you become, the more important it is to hire authentic, expert help.
A woman needs a good accountant and a good lawyer. An investor, executive, entrepreneur, or high-achiever needs a great coach.
You will not fully level up through doom-scrolling Instagram, watching a few YouTube tutorials, or reading one more self-help book.
You need insight and strategy based on your unique facts — not generalities.
Coachable people invest in the guidance that helps them grow.
